Kreb's Cycle 
In the presence of oxygen, the complete metabolism of glucose yields 36 ATPs (2 ATPs from the conversion of glucose to pyruvate (last page) and 34 from the Krebs cycle (aerobic metabolism). When our cells are stressed by not getting enough oxygen, the yield of ATP is reduced to 2 ATPs/glucose molecule (anerobic metabolism) When we metabolize glucose anerobically, we also produce lactic acid (side aches when exercising-this will be fully explained in the Lifestyle lessons).
