The Role of the Biological Sugars
|
|
1996-A New Look at Glycobiology In 1996, the Big 8 sugar theory was validated by Harper’s Biochemistry. Harper’s Biochemistry is the premier medical textbook for educating doctors on biochemistry. The 24th edition states:“Out of the 200 monosaccharides are found in nature, only eight are specifically used for the transfer of biological information.” Another discovery was made at the same time is that the average modern diet normally provides only 2 of these 8 necessary sugars. We could have a deficiency of these sugars and that deficiency could lead our cells to not communicate This could ultimately lead to conditions not optimal for our body.
